ABA Update number 45 (July 1996) includes summary reports of their Music, new music and all that: Teenage radio in the 90s' and Families and Electronic Entertainment research studies. I have a copy of these two reports, as well as the ABA Your Say : A review of audience concerns about Australia's broadc ast media 1996.

I don't always like the anti-consumerism Canadian journal Adbusters as it is often just too doctrinaire but it is (along with Naomi Klein) leading the charge in North America against corporate culture. The June/July 2000 issue (No. 30) focuses on Prozac culture, and other contemporary placebos.

The Canadian journal Adbusters: Journal of the Mental Environment is one of those publications I remain rather ambivalent about. It is often daring and innovative (particularly in its challenges to the conceits of advertising) but it often comes across as holier-than-thou and disinterested in contrary views. The Spring 1999 issue features articles on screen violence and cultural activism--and some great advert spoofs.

AdMedia, the monthly magazine of the New Zealand advertising industry, should be required reading for media teachers. The August 1997 issue has features on the state of television and radio in New Zealand., and a feature on soundtracks in advertising. The September issuue has more on the radio market and the October issue focuses on the newspaper industry.

The NZ trade journal Admedia for April 1999 surveys magazine publishing in New Zealand, May features the 1999 Axis Advertising Awards, and June features general advertising. July 1999 features coverage of the 1999 Quantas Media Awards, and statistics on NZ television trends 1995-1999.

The August 2000 issue of the NZ trade journal Admedia lists media/advertising courses offering in New Zealand but not all the information is accurate. The September issue regards the future of television, and shows hoe eight TV commercials were made.

The Australian trade journal AdNews has a feature 'Marketing through sport' in the July 28 2000 issue. The June 30 2000 issue has a 28pp special feature on developments in New Zealand media.
